FASHION SHOOT

This Project aims to present fashion tropes, pieces and outfits from throughout the ages, starting from the 1910's. After my desktop shoot and primary focus on toys and advertising I had decided to focus on portraiture and taking images of people rather than objects. Although early fashion photography dates back to the 1850's , it was not used widely or commercially until just after the beginning of the 20th century where it was used mostly for adverting purposes. which is why my shoots start from the 20th century. Most of the first fashion magazines (Harper's Bazaar and Vogue) were founded in the 1800's and used illustration to show the items, which continued until 1910's where fashion started to become mainstream. Edward Steichen has been credited as the first pioneer of Fashion photography, turning photography into an art form. My first shoot will be based of his earlier work from 1900's and 1910's although he continued to produce art and photography until the 1970's. Fashion photography tends to present styles from wealthy society, this project will go through fashion trends from 1910's and the birth of fashion photography to 2000's and current day fashion, trends and styles and present them as the average person would wear them.​
