Digital Media Poster

This collection of work was created and collected by Samuel Bannister

Moodboard

Before I began creating my final product, I made a mood board to represent images, locations, colours and logos that I may include in my leaflet. This image I ended up using on my final leaflet to help present the vast number of activities there are to do in the city of Leeds. This was one of the first documents I created for this project to help me begin collecting ideas for the production. I mostly chose to use images that were culturally significant or presented locations that were a large part of the city.

Visualization Diagram

This is my visualization diagram which I created to help present what my final poster/ leaflet would look like. This diagram includes the overall colours that I was planning to include, as well as the spaces that I was planning to have the images and text placed in the layout. This Document detailed the images that I may chose to have included on the poster/ leaflet and the type of text that I wanted to include helping describe the photos and include additional information about the city.

Taking images

Photos included on this poster will mostly be primary with a collage of secondary images from locations, colours and logos relating to the city of Leeds, included at the bottom of the screen. The reason I used secondary images for this collage is to make the collection formatted and get images I couldn't take myself such as logos and colours. I ended up not using any photos taken from my photo shoot at Paul's Pond as I believed that the photos from the city center better represented the style and themes I had established for the poster, I also made sure that the photos I used for the final poster were high quality, not blurry or out of focus and looked aesthetically pleasing. I took a photo of the trinity shopping center as it is one of the most popular and well-known centers in Leeds city center. For the equipment used a cannon camera as well as a tripod so that I could set up the camera and keep it focused on the scene I was shooting. Other photography techniques I used were, a short exposure to capture the inflatable from Leeds light night. I included one photo from a shopping center and one from a Leeds event. The light night photo was to present the amount of Leeds exclusive events that happen, this may attract people to come exclusively for these events.

Editing

To set up my Editing for my images I used a school computer with the software Adobe Photoshop. To get the images from my camera onto the computer I used an SD card reader to save my primary images onto a PC. Firstly I open Photoshop. Next click on the "Open" tab at the top left side of the software. I find my chosen image and press open to load the photo into Photoshop. Then, I used the brightness and contrast tool, shown below, to make the images more visible and easy to see. After this I would crop the photo smaller if the image was too large for the poster and finally, I would save the photo by going into "file", then "save as" and saving the images as the file type "JPEG", making sure to save the images as the highest quality that they could be saved as, to make sure the final product of the poster was as professional looking as possible.

Final Poster

This is the final Version of the poster i created adverting Leeds to win the "City of culture award". The text included was written by me and explains the images used as well as further adverting the city of culture award. I used the same layout presented in the visualization diagram and included the moodboard, made for ideas, at the bottom of the poster. The blue and yellow colour scheme was taken from the city's colour scheme which is included on the breeze cards, the Leeds rhinos logo and Leeds FC logo.
